An unexpected expat blogger behind Tundra Acorn Tide

Hi there, I am Maria
I’m a project manager. A parent. An expat based in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn’t in the original plan for the long run. Like many expatriate relocations, it started as a job chance and soon grew into something far greater.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Daily chores seemed more challenging than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural adjustment, ambiguity, and plenty of learning through experience. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built Tundra Acorn Tide
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site DOES:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site DOESN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A paid-review platform
- Just another travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as this information remains helpful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Maria
